The Bankruptcy group represents businesses, secured and unsecured creditors, landlords and bankruptcy trustees in bankruptcy reorganization and liquidation proceedings, workouts and debt restructurings. Our bankruptcy litigation practice has involved prosecuting major preference actions, prosecuting and defending proof of claim objections, dischargability litigation, fraudulent conveyance actions, and other adversarial proceedings and contested matters. It includes lawyers experienced in commercial litigation, general business law and bankruptcy law.

Deborah Hunt Devan, who heads our bankruptcy group, has achieved national recognition for her significant successes as the court appointed trustee in bankruptcy for Merry-Go-Round Enterprises, Inc. Deborah Devan serves as trustee in numerous bankruptcies and regularly appears before all of the bankruptcy judges in the northern and southern districts of Maryland.

Ms. Devan is a former President of the Bankruptcy Bar Association of Maryland and is a member of the Business Bankruptcy Committee of the American Bar Association and the Subcommittee on Bankruptcy Litigation and Claims and Priorities. She has frequently lectured with respect to bankruptcy issues and also is included in The Best Lawyers in America.
