Ercole will present “A Bird’s Eye View of the Taxation of Like-Kind Exchanges and Commercial Real Estate Taxation Generally” at the Annual Meeting of the American Bar Association Section of Taxation to be held in Washington DC on May 8, 2008. Cynthia Leppert has been named Baltimore County Woman of the Year by the Baltimore County Commission for Women. In making its announcement, the Commission stated that Cynthia's "achievements and qualifying criteria for the award include her leadership as President of the Women’s Bar Association of Maryland and experience as an attorney to help advance the interests of women throughout her community and the state." She will be honored at an awards presentation to be held on March 27, 2008, in recognition of Women's History Month.

Nathan D. Adler will present “Evictions in Maryland: Residential and Commercial” on February 20, 2008 at the Holiday Inn Selection in Timonium, Maryland. Mr. Adler will present guidelines for terminating commercial and residential leases. CYNTHIA LEPPERT SPEAKS AT ADMISSION CEREMONY OF NEW ATTORNEYS 06/11/07
Cynthia Leppert spoke at the swearing-in ceremony in the Court of Appeals of Maryland on June 11, 2007 at which 70 successful candidates who had passed the February bar examination became the newest members of the Maryland Bar. Cynthia, who is a principal in the Firm and the President of the Women's Bar Association of Maryland, was invited by the Court to move the admission of the new lawyers and to provide appropriate remarks at this ceremony which marks the start of their legal careers. Debbie Devan’s article, “Attorneys’ Ethical Obligations Clash with Recent Amendments to Bankruptcy Code” was the lead article in the May/June 2007 edition of The Maryland Bar Journal. The article provides practical advice to all attorneys on the limitations and restrictions that recent amendments to the Bankruptcy Code make on the advice that they can give to their clients. The clash between Maryland ethical duties and the limitations and restrictions imposed by the new bankruptcy law are a real and pressing problem for all practicing attorneys. The article outlines what steps a practitioner needs to take to stay abreast of, and in compliance with, the new laws.
